Trout and ramsons will be savoured in the Masné krámy restaurant

18. 4. 2016

Fresh trout and brook trout from the Šumava mountain range as well as specialties from ramsons are going to appear on the tables of the Masné krámy restaurant in České Budějovice from Thursday 21st April. The fish bred in the Spůlka rivulet are going to be supplied by the Trout Farm Mlýny from Žár by Vacov.

České Budějovice, 18th April 2016 – This year, the 9th gourmet event marking the opening of the trout season takes place in the Masné krámy restaurant. Fresh trout and brook trout from the Spůlka rivulet in Šumava are going to enrich the restaurant's menu from the 21st April. The chilled fish are going to be supplied by the renowned Trout Farm Mlýny (Pstruhařství Mlýny) from Žár by Vacov. During the last year's event, grilled trout stuffed with ramsons and spring onion was the most popular dish, as the guests ordered over 300 servings.

"Having a finer aroma than conventional garlic, ramsons are very suitable to flavour fish. Our guests can sample two recipes – trout fillets with ramsons butter or grilled trout stuffed with ramsons and spring onion," says the Masné Krámy restaurant's head chef Luděk Hauser. The guests can also savour several other dishes spiced with ramsons – an increasingly popular spring vegetable, whose season is just at its peak.

The Masné krámy restaurant is planning other thematic gastronomic events for this year:
• Burgers + Asparagus Feast in Masné krámy (18th  – 22nd May)
• Masné Krámy Fest (24th – 26th June)
• Venison Feast (17th – 23rd October)
• St. Martin's Feast (10th – 13th November)
• Insight into Our Neighbours' Cuisines – Austria/Bavaria (22nd – 27th November)

The restaurant offers great Old Czech cuisine to its guests, as well as perfectly treated drawn beer, Budweiser Budvar Krausened Lager in particular. The Masné krámy is the only restaurant in the world, where Budweiser Budvar Krausened Lager is drawn directly from beer tanks. The restaurant's capacity is 200 places. Further information on the restaurant can be found at www.masne-kramy.cz.

About ramsons
Ramsons (Allium ursinum, also known as wood garlic or bear's garlic) are a wood species, which grow in riverine and deciduous woodlands as well as around streams or at the foot of hills, preferring moist, humic and mellow soils. They often occur in groups and create lovely carpets of white flowers. Ramsons are age-old medicinal plants, containing particularly essential oils with sulphur compounds. The effective substances function in many ways; they have germicidal effects and help e.g. during colds and respiratory disorders. They are antifungal, destroying mycosis and fungus. Furthermore, ramsons decrease blood pressure and are effective against arteriosclerosis. They are used to destroy enteric bacteria, against flatulence and urichostrongylus. Mainly young leaves and flower stems are used in the kitchen.
